out of Huntington High School. With a polished skillset and an advanced feel for the game, Paker has quickly drawn attention as a player to watch.

At 6-2, Paker brings good size for the guard position, paired with length and athleticism that allow him to stand out on both ends of the floor. He moves with fluidity and body control, and as he continues to develop physically, his frame will only make him more difficult to defend.

Draftstack is a reader-supported publication. He has the ability to score at all three levels: knocking down shots from deep, pulling up confidently in the mid-range, and attacking the rim with poise. His smooth shooting stroke, combined with his ability to create space off the dribble, makes him a constant scoring threat. Beyond scoring, Paker’s vision and unselfishness shine. He has shown the ability to make the right reads, whether it’s finding teammates in transition or creating opportunities out of the half-court.

On the defensive end, Paker takes pride in his effort. His lateral quickness allows him to contain opposing guards, while his length helps him contest shots effectively. He’s also active on the glass for his position, contributing as a rebounder and helping his team secure second-chance opportunities.

Perhaps most impressive is Paker’s composure and maturity for a young player. He plays with poise, never looks rushed, and shows a leadership presence on the floor. Coaches have praised his work ethic and competitiveness, both of which suggest he’s only scratching the surface of his potential.

With added strength, more consistency from three, and continued development as a decision-maker against pressure, he projects as one of the most promising young guards in his class.

Scouting Report: Peyton Parker (’27) – 6’2 Guard – Huntington High School

Physical Attributes:

Stands 6-foot-2 with good length and wingspan for a guard.

Agile and quick, capable of playing in transition and guarding multiple positions.

Combines size and athleticism to see over defenders and finish at the rim.

Offensive Skills:

Advanced ball-handling allows him to create space and navigate through traffic.

Strong court vision and passing instincts, making him a playmaker for teammates.

Shows ability to drive with control and finish through contact.

Can score from multiple areas on the court: mid-range, perimeter, and at the rim.

Defensive Skills:

Can guard multiple positions effectively.

Demonstrates strong defensive awareness, including rotations and help defense.

Quick lateral movement and active hands disrupt opponents’ passing and shots.

Intangibles:

High Basketball I.Q and coachable mindset

Competitive and hardworking; continually seeks to improve skills.

Mature for his age and demonstrates leadership qualities on the floor.

Areas for Improvement:

Consistency in outside shooting.

Developing additional moves to finish against taller or more physical defenders.

Draftstack is a reader-supported publication. His length, physical maturity, shooting stroke, transition play, and above-the-rim play and finishing ability was standoutish.

I think as a younger prospect Ty was in a league of his own, as far as having a complete and blemish-less profile compared to his peers. different feel with 6’11” Notre Dame Freshman Tommy Aheman preparing for high-major D1 college ball. In turn, they did get in a couple significant transfer additions with 6’6” Wing/Forward 2028 Zeke Gilbert and 6’1” 2027 guard Isaac Feller joining the squad.

I’m unsure on how things will shake-out with the two additions, but Gilbert is considered a top-tier prospect in the Minnesota 2028 class, and I think he has HM D1/NBA upside, so he’s most certain to be a factor.

St. Thomas commit JoJo Mitchell will be counted on as a high usage scoring point guard and playmaking passer. Feller should mix in as well and Mitchell and Feller could play off of each other and exchange handling the ball. But I will say I would prefer the continuation of Mitchell being the primary and go-to ball-handler when he’s on the court. I don’t think you take him off of that role after a two-loss season.

Cretin-Derham Hall graduated 17.0 rebounds per game with Tommy Aheman and Monteff Dixon graduating, which will open up rebounding opportunities. I envision Schlagel getting a healthy piece of that rebounding pie that is left for the taking. I think he has a puncher’s chance at a 20+ point, 10 rebound double-double season. Gilbert should also be a strong rebounder with his length and insane verticality.

The Raiders will be a fun team this season. They will have to play small ball and get out and run the court, in my opinion. Defensively, they should pressure heavily, forcing a quick-paced atmosphere that should benefit them with their personnel.

—Ty Schlagel 2025-2026 Statistical Projection (Pts+Rebs)— 21.5 points per game, 8.7 rebounds per game

Schlagel coming into the season with Elite conditioning and a foot-on-the-pedal transition player would be must-watch and scary for opposing teams.

2025 Offseason

Howard Pulley Panthers (May 2025-July 2025)

**Schlagel played for both Howard Pulley’s EYCL Louis, Missouri this Summer. An invitation-only camp with a selection process of bringing in the top high school prospects. It was filmed and I was able to view three of his runs.

Ty was locked-in at the camp and gave detailed effort and a laser focus. I thought he maybe could have loosened up a little one of the games because it would have helped him play freely on the offensive end.

He wasn’t backing down from contact for the 50/50 balls off the rim. He was attacking the ball, working to power through for it.

His ability to handle and stop quick guards that were attacking him was impressive and was a slight surprise for me.

He didn’t score from the perimeter from what I viewed. But he played like a bull, crashed the boards, and had to be accounted for with a body.

Prep Hoops The Tune Up Highlights

Video: @STREETHISTORYVIDEOS

Ty Schlagel Scouting Report

Schlagel may quite honestly have the greatest on-the-court basketball IQ I’ve witnessed for a high school player. This aspect of his scouting report is what his entire game is built upon. His IQ feeds all other aspects of his game.

Along with his understanding of the game, he also shows World-class effort, a controlled intensity, and a competitive spirit.

He sees the game on both ends in a rarified air with his decision-making. His awareness of the entire action going on and how to respond and how to place himself is special. I think he processes the decision quickly, but the John Wooden quote, “Be quick, but don’t hurry”, reigns true with Schlagel. He takes that extra instance to make and gather the move physically to make the best decision after his mental processing is complete.

Schlagel’s versatility on both ends is quite obvious as well. He’s an offensive punisher at the rim, where he does much damage from, and he’s also a near 33% 3-point shooter, so he can’t just be left open. Defensively, he can contain and yet play close enough to contest guards on the perimeter. He can also get dirty and play physical with the Bigs. He pushes and plays with hands, and will hold a leg drive on the back of an opponent for as long as he can without fouling. He does as much maneuvering of his opponent as he can get away with to gain positioning for the ball. He’s not shoving or playing dirty, but he’s not letting up out there, that’s for sure. Looks for rebounding gaps and is consistently going for the ball off the rim at an impressively consistent rate.

Offensive Strengths

Turns and runs the floor instantly with a short burst up-court into a steady and constant speed.

Will timely crash the offensive glass and he comes up with a high percentage of offensive rebounds off the rim for putbacks.

Runs the floor well and wisely. He will turn on the jets when necessary in a full sprint and will also run smoothly to space the floor for the transition break.

A high-level (efficiency) finisher at the rim in a transition setting.

Values the basketball and offensive possession as a ball-handler and passer.

Can make blind skip passes from wing to opposite wing/corner wing.

Has a lethal rebound and push up the court game, where he immediately busts straight up-court and rifles a push-ahead pass to a moving teammate.

Offensive improvement opportunities

Extending 3-point shooting range

3-point making (increase percentage)

Self-creation as a shooter outside of the paint

First-step explosiveness

Defensive Strengths

Beyond Elite defensive IQ and execution.

Is highly aware of ball and man and his positioning relating to both.

Understands his opponents strengths and weaknesses and will guard differently from matchup to matchup.

Boxes out, moves bodies out and holds his ground. Gets into a bend to brace for contact and to be ready to jump for the rebound.

One of the best help defenders I’ve seen.

Tactical defender that is tough to score on 1-on-1.

**No defensive weaknesses of note**

Schlagel’s Approach, Effort, Mentality

I have found a respect for Ty and I think I’ve pinned down the nuances of it. Him being a top-ranked prospect and staying at the top has some weight for sure. But I think he brings a professionalism and seriousness about him. He can have fun and be a kid still, but he aims mostly and focuses on being successful in his endeavors, especially his basketball progression. I believe he thinks everything through and makes decisions based off of how it will affect his ability and chances of continuing to thrive and advance in his sport. It seems like he’s looking to plan for, adapt, and conquer every step in his career journey, by controlling the things he can control. The little things matter, and I think those go through his mind often.

His effort and bullish motor on the court bring fear and respect with it as well. He’s in search of the next playmaking opportunity for his team and will scan the court with the ball in possession with every intention on exploiting the defense. A true winning player playing from the wing, but he’s also a floor general and team leader.

NBA Thoughts & Discussion

Schlagel’s profile is one of the more interesting and challenging prospect profiles I’ve had to project to the NBA level. There’s no doubt in my mind that he’ll have a very good college career, but there’s more thought to be had with that final career step into the NBA with Schlagel. My thoughts on Ty’s NBA projection keep flipping back and forth.

A couple of my inner discussions and debates that are see-sawing his projection:

He’s not small, being maybe a tad under 6’7”, but he does a lot of his winning on the offensive boards and earning extra buckets that would most likely not be available to him at the NBA level, playing and challenging for the ball against the top defensive rebounding Bigs walking the Earth.

I’m finding it difficult to determine if he has the adequate lateral feet to contain and deter explosive and long wings and sudden guards off the dribble. His technique and focus might be the difference with that. His processing is top 0.01%, which also helps his case.

I think Ty has a shot at the peak of basketball in the World (NBA), and as mentioned , I think a lot of it boils down to his inner confidence, perseverance, and his determination to adjust as things transpire. With him being so highly-touted for so long in a state that is producing top talent more frequently, he may have built-up some inner workings of not being afraid of competition at the highest levels.

To reach the NBA and stick there, you need the physical standards and on-court potential and or/production of course — but you also need that mental aspect and that 1% mentality and confidence. You don’t see many unconfident NBA players that are hanging their heads and backing out of serious competitive environments. NBA players invite serious competition with confidence.

I believe Ty will have the opportunity to make a living playing the game of basketball. With a low-end range of being a highly valuable non-NBA professional/overerseas player and a ceiling of making a very good living as an NBA journeyman player that sticks in the league for 7-8+ years.

In my opinion, he will have to improve from the perimeter as a 3-point shooter with great shooting range to reach his ceiling. I think his 3-point shooting falling in the top 20% in the NBA for his position will be key. Also, as mentioned, his ability to defend Elite quickness on the perimeter and in transition is another determinant for him and his ceiling.

He’s not a guy that will come in and produce 17 points and haul in 7 rebounds the minute he’s thrusted into NBA-level competition. I think he would have a learning curve in how to approach the way he plays and how he would be able to “win” and be a steady player on the court. His catch-and-shoot three will need to develop into an easy and high percentage shot.

Looking ahead, Ty is going to have two highly productive seasons coming up at the high school level, so it will be no different for two more years with him. I also have a solid confidence that he will have a productive college career at the high-major D1 level.

In his first 2-3 college years I would like for him to really transform his body and get lean, strong, and athletic. Not necessarily lose weight, but tighten up his frame in general. An improved physique and a more springy and agile athleticism would change the game for him.

Being only a Junior in high school, there’s still a lot of time for Schlagel to make the necessary adjustments to reach the top of the sport. Stay tuned.

Draftstack is a reader-supported publication. One player drawing major attention is Cayden Daughtry, a 6’0” point guard out of Calvary Christian Academy in Florida. Already playing against elite competition with Overtime Elite’s Fear of God Athletics and the Nike EYBL’s Florida Rebels, Daughtry has positioned himself as one of the most dynamic young guards in the country. With a polished handle, high-level scoring instincts, and a competitive edge, he projects as a lead guard with significant long-term upside.

Draftstack is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

Physically, Daughtry may not overwhelm with his size, but he makes up for it with a lean, wiry frame built for speed and agility. His quickness in tight spaces and explosive first step allow him to create separation with ease, and he controls his pace with rare polish for a young guard. While still developing physically, he plays bigger than his stature—crafty enough to finish over length and slippery enough to elude stronger defenders. His shifty athleticism and ability to change speeds make him a constant matchup problem, capable of dictating tempo against nearly any opponent.

On the offensive side of the ball, Daughtry plays with the poise and skill of a polished lead guard even though he still has 2 more seasons of high school to develop. He is a true three-level scorer, capable of creating his own shot or flowing seamlessly within an offense. In transition, he is at his most dangerous, pushing the pace with confidence and using his speed and handle to collapse defenses. His pull-up jumper is already a weapon, especially from the mid-range, and he shows the touch to extend his range beyond the arc. In the half court, his craft and body control allow him to finish through traffic despite giving up size, making him a consistent scoring threat against any defense.

What separates Daughtry’s offensive game is his handle. With a deep arsenal of crossovers, hesitations, and pace changes, he keeps defenders constantly guessing. He doesn’t just rely on speed—he manipulates tempo with maturity beyond his years, showing comfort as the lead initiator in pick-and-roll situations. His ability to dictate rhythm allows him to run an offense with confidence and creativity.

His playmaking is equally impressive. Daughtry sees the floor well, consistently rewarding bigs on rolls to the rim and hitting shooters in rhythm. He has the vision to manipulate defenders and the discipline to make the right read instead of forcing the action. His passing instincts elevate those around him, and his ability to balance scoring with distribution makes him a true floor general.

Defensively, Daughtry brings energy and quickness. His lateral speed helps him stay in front of opposing guards, and his active hands generate steals and deflections. While he lacks size, he compensates with anticipation, competitiveness, and effort. As he continues to develop physically, added strength will allow him to better absorb contact and defend stronger guards at the next level.

Beyond his skills, Daughtry’s intangibles set him apart. He is a tireless worker, constantly refining his game and putting in the hours to improve. On the court, he is a vocal presence and unafraid to step into big moments, showing the confidence of a natural leader. His competitive edge drives him to perform under pressure, and coaches describe him as highly coachable, eager to absorb feedback, and focused on growth.

There is still room for development, which only makes his upside more intriguing. Adding strength to his frame will be critical for enduring the physical demands at the college level. Sharpening his three-point consistency will help him maximize his scoring threat, while improving his ability to impact the game off the ball will allow him to thrive alongside other creators. One of the best future guards may already be in South Florida, and his work ethic suggests steady improvement over the next several year so he should be more than able to continue his development in this areas and beyond.

Physical Attributes

Height/Position: 6’0” Point Guard

Build: Lean frame with room to add strength without losing quickness

Athleticism: Shifty and explosive in short spaces, with elite pace control

Matchup Impact: Quick enough to beat larger defenders off the dribble, crafty enough to finish over size

Offensive Game

Scoring Ability

Three-level scorer with range to the arc

Thrives in transition with speed and handle

Reliable pull-up jumper, especially from mid-range

Crafty finisher in traffic despite size disadvantage

Ball-Handling & Creation

Elite handle with crossovers, hesitations, and pace control

Keeps defenders off balance with change of direction and speed

Mature tempo control for his age

Comfortable initiating pick-and-roll offense

Playmaking

High-level vision and passing instincts

Consistently finds shooters and rolling bigs

Manipulates defenses with patience and reads

Rarely forces plays, showcasing advanced basketball IQ

Defensive Game

Quick laterally, able to stay in front of opposing guards

Active hands create steals and deflections

Anticipates passing lanes well despite smaller frame

Needs added strength to defend bigger, more physical guards

Intangibles

Work Ethic: Tireless gym rat, committed to continual improvement

Leadership: Vocal presence, confident in high-pressure moments

Mentality: Fierce competitor with a winning mindset

Coachability: Absorbs feedback quickly and applies adjustments

Areas for Growth

Add muscle to better handle physicality at higher levels

Improve three-point consistency to stretch defenses

Enhance off-ball scoring impact (spot-up shooting, cutting)

Projection & Comparisons

Daughtry projects as a high-major Division I point guard with the tools to contribute immediately thanks to his scoring and playmaking. Long-term, he certainly has NBA potential if his body develops and his perimeter shooting reaches a higher level of consistency. Calvary has had recent success with a few alumni making it to the NBA. His craft and creativity with the ball resemble Darius Garland, while his toughness and competitive fire evoke shades of Kemba Walker. Like Ty Lawson in his prime, Daughtry combines speed and tempo control with the ability to take over games offensively. With continued growth, he will become a pro-caliber floor general for many years.

Draftstack is a reader-supported publication. One player drawing serious attention is Ahmad Hudson, a 6’9” power forward from Ruston High School who has quickly emerged as one of the most promising big men in the country. With a rare blend of size, athleticism, and skill, Hudson has all the tools to become a standout at the next level.

Physically, Hudson brings an imposing presence. At 6’9”, he has the strength to dominate in the paint and the agility to move like a guard. His long wingspan, quick feet, and fluid mobility make him a nightmare matchup—too powerful for smaller defenders, too fast for bigger ones. He moves with control and confidence, and his physical profile allows him to play multiple positions on both ends of the court.

Draftstack is a reader-supported publication. He thrives in the post, where he uses his size and strength to seal off defenders and finish through contact. He has soft hands and good touch around the rim, giving him reliable scoring options inside. Beyond the paint, Hudson shows surprising range for a big man. He has a smooth mid-range jumper and a growing ability to face up and attack off the dribble. What truly elevates his offensive game, though, is his ball-handling. For a forward, he has exceptional control with the ball, allowing him to initiate plays, drive from the perimeter, and create scoring opportunities for himself and others.

His playmaking ability is often overlooked but deserves recognition. Hudson sees the floor well, rarely forces shots, and is more than capable of making the extra pass. He consistently finds open teammates, especially when drawing double teams, and makes smart, timely decisions with the ball. He’s a threat to score and create, which forces defenses to stay honest.

On the defensive side, Hudson is equally dominant. His length and mobility give him the ability to guard multiple positions. He can switch on pick-and-rolls, defend in space, and still protect the rim with timing and verticality. He’s a disciplined defender who understands positioning and communicates well with teammates. His ability to contest shots, alter passing lanes, and control the glass makes him a true two-way player with high impact.

Beyond his physical and technical skill set, what separates Hudson is his mindset. He’s a tireless worker—always improving, always studying the game. His dedication is evident in his continued development and polished fundamentals. He’s also a natural leader, vocal on the court and locked in during critical moments. Coaches praise his maturity, coachability, and competitive fire, all of which point to long-term success.

There’s still room for growth, which only makes his ceiling more exciting. Developing a more consistent three-point shot will help him stretch the floor and diversify his scoring. Improving the finer details of his post footwork and tightening up his free throw shooting will also elevate his offensive consistency. But these are areas he’s already actively working on—and given his progress so far, it’s clear he’s trending upward.

Hudson’s performances in camps and showcases have only added to the buzz surrounding his name. His versatility, high basketball IQ, and winning mentality make him a perfect fit for high-level college basketball—and beyond.

In short, Ahmad Hudson is more than just a high school standout. He’s a player with pro-level tools, a relentless motor, and the mindset to match. As his game continues to evolve, expect to see him rise in national rankings and dominate at the next level. Ahmad Hudson is a name worth knowing—and a player built for the future.

Physical Attributes

Height/Position: 6’9” Power Forward

Build: Strong, athletic frame with long arms and functional strength

Mobility: Quick feet and fluid movement for his size

Matchup Problem: Too strong for wings, too fast for bigs—can guard and score across positions

Offensive Game

Post Play

Establishes deep position with ease and finishes strong through contact

Uses strength and length to create high-percentage looks in the paint

Mid-Range & Perimeter

Smooth, confident jumper from 12–18 feet

Comfortable facing up and attacking slower defenders off the dribble

Ball-handling ability stands out—can initiate offense or drive from the perimeter

Playmaking

High basketball IQ—doesn’t force plays

Sees the floor well and finds open teammates out of double teams

Versatile offensive weapon who can score or facilitate

Defensive Game

Switchable defender: Can guard post players, wings, and even some guards

Uses wingspan to alter shots, block attempts, and contest jumpers

High motor on the glass—strong rebounder on both ends

Understands rotations, communicates well, and takes pride in his defensive impact

Intangibles

Work ethic: Consistently improving and putting in gym hours

Leadership: Vocal presence on the court, encourages teammates, leads by example

Mentality: Composed under pressure, competitive in big-game settings

Coachability: Absorbs feedback, makes adjustments, eager to learn

Draftstack is a reader-supported publication. His ball handling skills are exceptional, allowing him to create space for himself and his teammates. He has a quick first step and excellent court vision, making him a threat in both half court sets and fast breaks.

One of his biggest strengths is his ability to shoot from long range. He has a smooth, consistent shooting form and can knock down shots from beyond the arc with ease. His shooting range, combined with his ball handling skills, make him a dangerous offensive player as he can drive to the basket or pull up for a jump shot.

In addition to his shooting ability, TJ Jamison is also proficient at finishing around the rim. He has good body control and can use both hands to finish layups and floaters. He is also not afraid to attack the basket and draw contact, showcasing his strength and aggressiveness.

Defensive Skills

On the defensive end, TJ Jamison is a tenacious and versatile player. His athleticism allows him to stay in front of his man and contest shots effectively. He has quick hands and a good sense of timing, making him a threat for steals and deflections.

His strength also comes into play on defense, as he is able to match up against bigger opponents and hold his own. One aspect is continuing to perfect his mid-range game. While Jamison is an excellent shooter from beyond the arc and from mid-range, adding even more consistency and efficiency to his mid-range arsenal will make him an even more lethal offensive threat.

He can also continue to improve on his decision making, particularly when it comes to controlling the pace of the game. While he has a high basketball IQ, there are times when he may force the issue on the offensive end. As Jamison continues to gain experience and maturity, his mistakes will be minimal.

With his combination of skills, athleticism, and intangibles, he has the potential to make an immediate impact at the collegiate level. His ability to play both guard positions will make him a valuable asset to any team. He has the potential to be a starting point guard but can also play as a shooting guard with his ability to shoot the ball.

Final Thoughts

TJ Jamison is a rising star in the world of basketball. The 7-foot 17 year old Mali native and FC Barcelona big is gaining major steam in the U.S., especially with a possible reclass to 2026. Every blue blood wants him, and he’s now headed stateside for official visits.

Duke, facing heavy competition, will lean on familiar faces—fellow Barcelona product Dame Sarr and African big man Khaman Maluach—to help show Keita what it means to be a Blue Devil. From brand power to NBA prep, Duke offers a proven path to the next level.

Keita’s blend of length, mobility, and rim dominance makes him a game-changer on both ends. He’s the kind of prospect who can transform a defense, control the glass, and give any offense a true interior weapon. Duke should go all-in on this one.

At just 17 years old, Sayon Keita is widely viewed as a long-term, high-upside prospect. He projects as a defensive anchor and high-energy transition big with significant potential—especially if he can add strength, sharpen his post game, and make strides in his decision-making. While his offensive skill set is still developing, his elite physical tools and upside have already drawn serious attention from college programs and professional scouts.

Keita's length and mobility will be his calling card at the next level, standing out as exceptional for his age and frame. He possesses strong shot-blocking instincts, consistently posting high block rates in youth competition. Offensively, he's effective around the basket but remains limited in terms of polish and range. Physically, he still needs to add strength to handle more mature competition, and defensively.

Overall, Keita is likely several years away from being pro rotation-ready, but the tools are clearly there. With continued development, he has the potential to become a modern rim-protecting, rim-running big man.

Draftstack is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

Offense

Keita has significant upside. He’s at his best as a rim-runner and pick-and-roll finisher, using his soft hands, bouncy legs, and explosive leaping ability to convert around the basket with ease. He consistently plays above the rim and is a dangerous lob target in transition or the half court. While still developing as a post scorer, Keita shows advanced footwork, a soft touch with either hand, and flashes of short jumpers and baby hooks. To reach his full potential, he’ll need to add strength and build a more stable base, as he can be displaced on the block by stronger opponents. Still, the tools are clearly there—his offensive ceiling is as high as any big in his class.

Post Play

The good, the bad, and the raw—there’s no doubt Sayon Keita is a high-level talent, but his post game still shows areas of growth alongside flashes of brilliance. At his best, Keita is dangerous when he catches and quickly spins off his defender, using his length and bounce to finish with authority. He’s also effective after setting a screen, rolling hard, and sealing his man deep in the paint. The closer he is to the rim, the more dominant he becomes—especially given his current lack of a sturdy base.

When he's able to maintain balance, Keita can power through contact, draw fouls, and overwhelm defenders with his athletic tools. However, without a deep seal or quick move, his lack of upper and lower-body strength is exposed. He’s often pushed off his spots, knocked off balance, or forced into turnovers. The clips below show just how good Keita can be, but they also spotlight his current limitations. Continued physical development will be crucial for him to become a consistent interior scoring threat at the next level.

GLASS EATER / OFFENSIVE REBOUNDER EXTRAORDINAIRE

Keita is an absolute force on the offensive glass. His relentless motor, elite physical tools, and constant activity make him a nightmare for defenders to keep off the boards. He attacks every missed shot with purpose, using his impressive vertical leap, long arms, and quick second jump to high-point the ball and extend possessions. What separates him from most bigs his age is his natural feel for reading the ball off the rim and his ability to position himself early. His energy never wavers—he battles through contact, crashes hard from the weak side, and regularly creates second-chance opportunities for his team. Whether it’s tipping in misses, resetting the offense, or drawing fouls on put-backs, Keita’s presence on the offensive glass is both disruptive and game-changing.

ELITE Pick and Roll Target

Sayon Keita thrives in the pick-and-roll, where his combination of physical tools, fundamentals, and feel for the game makes him a constant threat. While he’s an obvious asset simply because of his size and length, what truly sets him apart in this action is his attention to detail and execution. He sets strong, purposeful screens that create real separation, and then explodes out of them with intent—always rolling hard to the basket with his hands ready and eyes up.

Keita catches everything thrown his way, thanks to his powerful, reliable hands and exceptional coordination for a big man. His verticality is elite—he routinely snags lobs that seem out of reach and finishes them with authority. Whether it's a pocket pass in traffic or a high lob over the top, Keita makes himself a massive, consistent target. He also does a great job of reading the defense and adjusting his angles mid-roll to remain available as an outlet for ball-handlers.

His timing, body control, and ability to stay active without the ball elevate him from a basic roll man to a true weapon in PnR action. Few bigs his age combine his motor, hands, and vertical pop with such discipline and purpose.

When Keita is on the move, he becomes a dynamic offensive threat—forcing defenses to react and adjust to his presence. His mobility not only creates vertical spacing but also shifts defensive coverages, opening up opportunities for teammates and keeping rotations off balance.

DEFENSE OUTLOOK

Keita displays strong natural defensive instincts, particularly when it comes to positioning, timing, and using his length to alter or block shots. He does an excellent job fronting the post and making life difficult for opposing bigs. His sheer size and wingspan allow him to protect the rim effectively, and he shows a good understanding of how to use verticality and length without fouling. In the paint, he's naturally disruptive and frequently forces opponents to adjust their shots.

However, savvy offensive teams often look to neutralize his rim protection by pulling him away from the basket—most commonly through high ball screens—making it essential for him to develop the ability to defend in space. This strategy not only reduces his impact as a shot blocker but also challenges his lateral mobility and puts him in situations where he's more prone to fouling.

One area that stands out as needing improvement is his technique when walling up. Keita has a habit of leaning too heavily on one side, which savvy offensive players exploit with spin moves or counters that leave him out of position. This is particularly problematic in one-on-one post defense, where balance and body control are crucial.

Laterally, Keita still has a long way to go. When switching onto guards in pick-and-roll scenarios or hedging out on ball screens, he often lacks the quickness and footwork to stay in front of smaller, faster players. Guards can blow by him relatively easily, which limits his effectiveness in modern defensive systems that demand more switchable and agile big men.

With proper development—especially focused on balance, lateral foot speed, and defensive technique—Keita has all the tools to evolve into a high-level defender. His size, motor, and shot-blocking instincts give him a strong foundation, but translating that into consistent, versatile defense at the next level will require coaching, reps, and disciplined effort. If he can refine those areas, Keita could become a complete defensive anchor.

RECRUTING VISITS/ Ace in the Sleeve for Duke

Keita’s NIL representation has put together a powerhouse lineup of schools for his official visits during his U.S. tour this week—and it reads like a who's who of college basketball royalty. Nearly every stop on his list is a blue blood: Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, Indiana, UConn, and North Carolina. The caliber of programs pursuing him speaks volumes about his talent and potential, and his visit schedule may offer early insight into the kind of environment he's seeking—one built on tradition, player development, and a direct pipeline to the NBA.

While it's still too early to confidently predict where Sayon Keita will commit, his upcoming visit to Duke on July 31, 2025, could be a pivotal moment. The Blue Devils may quietly hold an edge in his recruitment thanks to a built-in connection with Dame Sarr, a fellow five-star talent and current Duke wing who shared the court with Keita at FC Barcelona. Their established on-court chemistry, shared international experience, and mutual African heritage could help Keita feel a strong sense of comfort and belonging in Durham—factors that often weigh heavily in a prospect’s decision.

Duke’s program culture, combined with Sarr’s presence and the staff’s elite recruiting approach, gives them a unique angle that few others can match. With blue bloods like Kentucky, Kansas, UNC, UConn, and Indiana also in pursuit, this is shaping up to be one of the most competitive recruitments in the class. But don’t sleep on Duke—they may already be playing from in front.

Summary

Keita's length and mobility will be his calling card at the next level, standing out as exceptional for his age and frame. He possesses strong shot-blocking instincts, consistently posting high block rates in youth competition. Offensively, he's effective around the basket but remains limited in terms of shooting and range. Physically, he still needs to add strength to handle more mature competition, and defensively.

Overall, Keita is likely several years away from being ready for a professional rotation, but the tools are clearly there. That understanding is part of why he’s leaning toward the college route—he recognizes the need to gain more experience and adapt to the style of play in the United States, particularly on the defensive end.

2027 Baboucarr Ann Interview + Scouting Deepdive

Draftstack met up with 6’5” 2027 Schroeder

Baboucarr Ann has the goal set in his mind to become an NBA player. And he is putting forth the daily work to realize that goal. I’ll go into detail on how he performs on the court, but Baboucarr the person and teammate is a significant aspect of his profile. Humble, respectful, Elite teammate, etc. Baboucarr brings a positive energy and good vibe to almost every scenario. Baboucarr checks all the boxes off the court and with his personality traits.

He doesn’t sink the boat, he sets the sails.

I first saw Baboucarr a few years back when he was playing 14U ball for PJ Hoops. He had promising length but a raw game. The defensive upside was established, though. You could see a lot of potential in his lengthy frame and his movement and athletic pop.

Although opportunities for improvement are still there, the upside was realized and came to fruition at perfect timing. He’s getting serious high-major D1 interest and has secured a few offers from the University of Minnesota, Iowa State University, and Arizona State University. He goes through his recruiting rundown in the interview I recently had with him.

Ann had a promising Sophomore season for Maple Grove that put D1’s on high alert. His 41.7% 3-point percentage had to carry a lot of weight in him garnering high-level interest. His above-the-rim ability with a 3-point percentage above 40% has turned things up a notch for his recruitment.

Sophomore Season Stats (per Baboucarr’s X account)

Per game averages of 15 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, 1 block

Shooting: FG-51.7% (3FG-41.7%)

Interview:

Scouting:

Offense

Off-the-drive threat

Finishes with his length advantage

Patient, doesn’t force bad action just to try to score.

Product of being a wing, but goes stretches offensively of simply just spacing the offense and not being a consistent offensive factor.

Can handle the ball well enough to get to scoring areas, but his scoring assertiveness could drift slightly to the more selfish side. He gets to the middle, but can stall when he gets there because he looks for others.

He can handle the ball in the open court just fine, but when a defender starts to play up on him and challenge him, he retreats and doesn’t try to counter the aggression.

Defense

Great overall defender

Elite defensive IQ

Plays tight coverage when necessary

Moves through and avoids getting screened hard

Great lateral movement with quick, explosive bursts

Great help defender, almost to a fault - comes off his matchup too far

Rim-resister and will challenge opponents at the rim

This offseason Baboucarr has been playing up an age group on Minnesota’s top 17U AAU team, D1 Minnesota 3SSB. The team has been getting some national recognition and is full of high-major D1 commits and prospects that play well together. They recently had their top few 2026 prospects commit to division 1 programs. Baboucarr came off the bench with a squad of D1 17U prospects.

Draftstack is a reader-supported publication. He easily understood what I was asking and performed it correctly sooner rather than later.

His 3-point development was quite noticeable. He showed consistency from three and was able to go on streaks of making 4-5 in a row.

I challenged his ability to sustain his handle for an extended period of time and get into a pull-up three cleanly. He was better from three range than getting into an off-balance two-ball on the move.

For the “finisher” of the workout, I challenged his stamina, conditioning, and muscular endurance after we performed an adequate amount of shooting reps. It was a full-court test to see how well he could shoot when the legs are heavy and if he could sustain his vertical with some dunks at the end of a workout.

The workout consisted of starting with a pull-up three, rebound it, pull-up midrange on the other end, then rebound the midranger, hustle with the ball to the other end, then a dunk for the last and third rep. This three-rep series is performed continuously until about 90% failure. My clue to the 90% failure was when he was starting to have trouble getting up cleanly to dunk the ball.

If there was one weakness to his workout and what he showed, it would be that he could be in a more conditioned state. An elite condition does so much for a player. It’s an extra edge that allows a guard to play fast, longer. That extra step you can gain over a tired opponent is a difference-maker.

NBA Prediction

I believe this season (2025-2026) is one of the most important seasons for Baboucarr developing into a future NBA player. How he responds and develops with more of a ball-handling role is paramount. It may take four games for him to get comfortable with it.

Overall, Ann has an attractive overall profile that will gain attention of NBA scouts and General Managers in the near future. It’s clear that he will continue to work, as he has set the NBA dream as a main focus in his life. An important factor in projecting him is that I believe he will continually provide progress and has upside going forward because there are a few skills untapped yet. His ball-handling against pressure, game conditioning, NBA-3 range, and some minor tweaks to his approach offensively make for areas that he can further develop consistently for the next five years of his career.

I don’t envision him becoming an NBA superstar worthy of max contract status, but I think he can be a serviceable 2-guard with a rotational role or a starting role in an opportune situation. He should benefit with his defensive ability. A meaningful role may not open up instantly, but I think an organization and coaching staff will be all-in on giving him a chance on an opportunity.

Baboucarr’s Breakthrough

Ann was recently slated as the #55 ranked 2027 in the nation by Rivals. This should give him confidence going into the season to make that minor tweak to his game day personality and on-court inner-thinking.

I think this is the year for Baboucarr to make another leap and the most crucial leap. He still needs to stay steady and perform consistent work, but he’s set for a game-changing year. This year he takes on more of a go-to role, amplified offensive energy, and uses that with his improving ball skills to make for a great alignment of riches. He has the D1 offers, but he’s not to the BIG LEAGUES yet.

Baboucarr is one I will be following rather closely and plan to make a trip or two to Maple Grove for the upcoming season for a couple highly anticipated home matchups.
